From logistics simulation to emulation

The fields of application of logistics simulation extend from feasibility studies at a very early point of time through support of the rough and detailed planning to the implementation and start-up phase of the logistics system.

Through application of simulation technology, in particular with logistics projects additional dependability can be gained and commissioning time saved, as all relevant processes can be evaluated and optimally co-ordinated in interaction at an early stage.

For example, questions concerning optimum layout of the conveyor technology cannot be considered in isolation from sequencing and consolidation strategies. For these reasons simulation-based methods and tools are increasingly applied in the different planning phases of a logistics project.
