Control station with prognosis function

Plant visualisation and provision of control options are classic functions of control stations. However, the effects of control interventions are only foreseeable to a limited extent. The long-term effects of the intervention in particular, as well as the dynamic interrelationships between the different areas of manufacturing are difficult to assess. For this reason SimPlan supplements the basic functions of the control station with a simulation component. This component enables the control station personnel to run certain control interventions virtually in a simulation scenario in the first instance. Thus the effects can be made transparent. A comparison of alternative controls ensures that the best solution comes into operation.

Diverse solutions

A novelty of the SimPlan product is the use of a standard simulation software for the entire range of functions of the control station. On the basis of the software not only the prognosis function but also common control station functions such as visualisation, statistics or control can be implemented. For this purpose local controls (PLC) are connected via an interface developed by SimPlan.
Additionally the customer also receives a simulation model, which can be applied independent of the control station, e.g. for planning or structural improvement measures.

The range of applications of the simulation-based control station is diverse. Wherever complex decisions have to be made during operation, the application is expedient.  Modern hard- and software guarantees short response times of the simulation so that even rapid decisions can be supported.

BMW counts on the SimPlan solution

The Bavarian automobile manufacturer proudly gives an account of the successes of the pilot project in the final assembly of one plant. The reduction of the cycle wastages within the first few months of the application alone justifies the expenditure. The prognosis of when vehicles with special shipments will arrive at certain workplaces facilitates precisely accurate personnel scheduling.
