Simulation tools

5 years of SimView - Analysis, visualisation and presentation of simulation results

What started off as an Excel solution in 2002 was implemented as a self-contained application with SimView for the first time in September 2004. Initially it was intended as an internal SimPlan tool for the analysis of data and statistics; however, due the great number of customer requests it was developed further into a software product, which has been marketed as such by SimPlan since 2006.

Due to its flexibility and autonomy, SimView is used both in the simulation environment and in the classic data analysis.

A new milestone was reached this year with the multilingual user interface. In a relatively short time, licences could be sold in Holland and China. Furthermore, a series of customer requirements, such as the automatic selection of drop-down fields and the administration of chart templates, have been implemented.

The SimView roadmap primarily includes the generalisation of the database interface for ORACLE and SQL servers and the integration of Gantt charts. The automatic background analysis of statistics as a batch process is intended to be added as a future feature.

Customer statements

“SimView is an outstanding analysis tool, which stands out due to its ease of use, high flexibility and good presentation. The Data Analysis & Simulation department of SSI Schäfer Noell GmbH has used this software for several years now and has been able to significantly reduce specifically the time required for many simulation projects. Furthermore SimView contributes to the relatively easy and traceable documentation of process steps.”

Tino Grosse, Data Analysis and Simulation, SSI Schäfer Noell

“With SimView we have been able to reduce the non-value-added activities of the documentation of simulation experiments to a minimum.  I am thrilled with the efficiency and ease of use. Now I can change the display of the analysis “just like that” even during a meeting, in order to make details more transparent to the auditorium.”
