Technical exchange and knowledge transfer in the Plant Simulation Community

Alexander Dilg named Siemens Community Most Valuable Player

In February 2026, our colleague Alexander Dilg was named ‘Community Most Valuable Player’ in the Siemens Digital Industries Software community series. With this format, Siemens honours committed members who make a special contribution to the community through their expertise and continuous exchange.

More than 15 years of Plant Simulation experience

Alexander Dilg has been working with Plant Simulation for over 15 years and supports users worldwide with technical and methodological questions. His structured and understandable approach to complex topics is particularly appreciated.

His focus is on practical solutions with a clear emphasis on feasibility. Where possible, he tries to use low-code approaches in order to support users who do not have in-depth programming knowledge.

‘Since many users lack coding experience, I always try to find low-code or no-code solutions first, based on the basic functionality.’

Commitment as a community catalyst

As a community catalyst, Alexander consciously invests time in professional exchange. For him, the further development of other members is a priority.

‘I like to see the growth of other community members and be a part of their journey in the world of simulation.’

At the same time, he values exchanges with developers, especially when technical background information is explained that goes beyond the official documentation.

Clear concepts as the basis for successful simulation

A central theme in the interview is his advice to beginners. For Alexander, every successful simulation project begins with a clear structure.

‘You should first write down clearly what you want to simulate and how the system should behave.’

In his view, a clear specification that defines rules, processes and priorities forms the basis for efficient implementation.

Significance for SimPlan

Active exchange in specialist communities is an important part of further development in the field of simulation, virtual commissioning and digital twins. Alexander’s presentation as Community MVP underlines SimPlan’s claim to not only contribute expertise to projects, but also to actively share it in specialist networks.
