Virtual warehouse inspection and virtual prototyping
Interaction in dynamic virtual reality simulation models
Logistics providers, system integrators and planners – all of them have to present material flows of logistics and production facilities to their customers in the planning phase. SimPlan AG offers the new virtual reality simulation solution “Virtual Tour”: With the help of a virtual reality spectacle, customers can interact with the new system within a dynamic simulation model. The 3D model improves the process understanding of the users and increases the planning security. This saves time and money. In addition, the solution can also be used for virtual prototyping.
In order to provide customers with the necessary transparency of their future processes, planners had three options: a simple drawing, a visit to a sample plant or the creation of a static 3D model. With the “virtual inspection”, logistics service providers and system integrators make their plans tangible. At the same time, a realistic and robust picture of the planned processes is created. “The virtual tour is much more than just a 3D image of the future facility. The customer can move with the virtual reality glasses on a realistic scale in the virtual warehouse and work directly with the device using interaction rods. This creates a whole new simulation experience,” explains Dr. Harry Kestenbaum, Sales and Marketing Director of SimPlan AG.
Virtual prototyping with dynamic simulation
The technology can also be used in the virtual prototyping of newly developed systems, e.g. new picking stations can already be tested in the planning phase. Dynamic 3D simulation in virtual space replaces the previously elaborately developed physical model. CAD drawings are transferred to the simulation and the necessary interaction is implemented. In a short time a variety of different development stages are mastered. This saves developers and companies time and money.
