SimPlan’s Chinese subsidiary off to a flying start
In June simulation service provider SimPlan established a new subsidiary in Shanghai. This was done in response to increased customer requests and initial orders from the ‘Middle Kingdom’.
During the first two months of its presence on the Chinese market, SimPlan was already able to acquire two of China’s largest automotive manufacturers as well as a renowned pharmaceutical company as its customers. With acquisitions like this the signs continue to point to fast growth, which is to be pushed further with the company’s presence at one of the most important logistics fairs in Asia, the CeMAT in Shanghai.
“The dynamics of the Chinese market open up great growth potential for us. The rising demands on process efficiency and the growing level of automation in the manufacturing industry increase the need for simulation. We are likely to reach the annual targets we have set ourselves earlier than expected”, according to Dirk Wortmann, Executive Director of SimPlan China.

At the CeMAT Asia, from 25 to 28 October, SimPlan will present the possibleapplications of simulation to all interested parties, advise potential users with regard to the software selection and illustrate the benefits using project case studies.
In addition, the visitors of the FachPack in Nuremberg will be able to find out more about the advantages of using simulation in logistics and especially in the packaging industry.
From 28 to 29 September SimPlan employees will introduce among others the Demo3D and Emulate3D programmes at this trade fair.
Demo3D was developed in order to facilitate the digital 3D planning of packaging, production and logistics facilities as well as the interactive animation or simulation of the respective processes. The incorporation of graphics and physics is globally unique – it allows friction, mass inertia, gravitation and the like to be taken into account.
With this the software supports the user, e.g. during the marketing phase. Demo3D enables the fast design and animation of plants, whilst graphically illustrating specific effects and potential solutions to the customer. During the implementation phase simulations can provide important knowledge, such as identifying bottlenecks or the required technical capacity of conveyor belts.
Emulate3D is applied for the virtual commissioning of PLC controllers for conveyor systems. The facility to test continuously during the PLC programming shortens the commissioning periods greatly, whilst at the same time increasing the software quality.
