Management – Guidance – Information – Simulation in the building industry

Forschungsprojekt Mefisto - SimPlan AG

As a German IT key project in the building industry, MEFISTO provides an IT platform that improves the co-operation between clients and contractors by means of process orientation, simulation and new visualisation methods.

Objective

The objective of the FMER key project MEFISTO is the development of a platform for the handling of building projects in the form of a management guidance system, which facilitates real-time and visually meaningful simulations based on up-to-date operating data at all levels of abstraction. This is how complex contexts are to be visually conveyed and a dynamic risk management is to be facilitated.   Combined with the option of visualising past bases for decision-making, the resulting transparency provides a common understanding between the project partners.  For the co-operation this approach creates trust, prevents misunderstandings and promotes synergies and the accumulation of knowledge between the experts involved.

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (FMER) funds the key project MEFISTO within the scope of the IKT (Information and Communication Technologies – German: Informations -und Kommunikationstechnologien) 2020 programme to the tune of EUR 9.4 million. The running period of the joint research project started on 01/04/2009 and ends on 31/03/2012.
