SimPlan at “Digital Factory 2026”
The 21st “Digital Factory” congress will take place in Herzogenaurach on 10 and 11 June 2026. The event is regarded as a key meeting place for specialists and executives from the fields of production, factory planning and digitalisation. It brings together industry, research and solution providers to discuss current developments and specific use cases of digital transformation.
Focus on future technologies for production
The congress will examine key topics shaping the factory of the future:
- Digital twins throughout the entire lifecycle
- Artificial intelligence in production and logistics processes
- Industrial metaverse and immersive applications
- End-to-end data integration and system landscapes
- Virtual commissioning and simulation-based planning

Presentation on the second day of the event
A particular highlight is the joint presentation by Dr Thomas Bär (Daimler Buses GmbH) and Prof. Dr Sven Spieckermann (SimPlan AG):
14:30: Practical application of the AAS – Results of the TwinMap project
The presentation will showcase specific applications of the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) in industrial practice. Key topics include:
- AAS sub-models used
- Implementation examples from real-world projects, including:
- AAS plant models within an integration platform
- Creation and use of a digital plant twin
- Use of a feasibility assistant
- Critical examination of the future use and further development of the AAS
The presentation combines industrial application (Daimler Buses) with methodological and technological expertise (SimPlan) and provides insights into specific implementation scenarios as well as their potential and challenges.
