Process simulation: an established tool in production and logistics
Process simulation has been used for many years to analyse and improve planned and existing production and logistics systems. A simulation model allows planning scenarios to be compared, bottlenecks to be identified and capacities to be assessed before investing in plant, premises or staff.
Commissioning control systems virtually
Emulation models go one step further. They replicate a plant in such a way that the actual control system can be tested on it. This means that errors in the control logic become apparent on the computer, rather than only during on-site commissioning.
