You can choose between modern Plant Simulation X Cloud licences on a subscription basis and classic on-premise licences, which are available as subscription or purchase versions. The scope of services ranges from the entry-level version to the Professional or Advanced versions.

Für Hochschulen, Forschungseinrichtungen und Studierende gibt es spezielle akademische Lizenzen, deren Nutzung strikt auf nicht wirtschaftliche Zwecke beschränkt ist. Integration and interfaces

Plant Simulation can be integrated into many software environments. Data can be exchanged not only at the beginning or end, but also during the simulation. Available interfaces include:

  • ODBC (e.g. for MS Access or SQL Server)
  • ActiveX and mailbox
  • Socket-based communication
  • Coupling with ARIS or other planning systems

This enables a close connection to MES, ERP or other IT systems.

Industry-specific building block sets

Building block sets are specialised software libraries that bundle standard functionalities of frequently used model components (machines, warehouses, conveyor technology). They serve to greatly accelerate the model creation of complex systems.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Which version is suitable for beginners

The student version or an academic version (Plant Simulation Research) is suitable for beginners if it is for non-commercial use. For initial company projects, a commercial licence with basic scope is usually used, e.g. Plant Simulation X Essentials.

Are programming skills necessary?

No programming skills are required for simple material flow models. Programming can be useful for more complex logic or individual building blocks, but remains optional.

How realistic can models be represented?

Plant Simulation enables a detailed representation of processes, transports, waiting times or control rules. Extensive analysis tools allow realistic forecasts to be made.

Can the software work with real data?

Yes. Data from Excel, databases or ERP systems can be integrated via interfaces. Ongoing data exchange during simulation is also possible.

What is the best way to get started as a beginner?

To begin with, we recommend a small model with standard components such as processing stations, buffers and means of transport. Sample models help with understanding. Through gradual expansion, the model grows with your own experience.

Can I make models available to other people?

Models can be shared as project files or stored via central systems. Companies often use a shared model storage system or store variants within the experiment management system.
